Late Night [Stomach] Rumble

The following is a tale of a hungry paper pusher working late. Let this serve as a notice to all regarding nighttime deliveries
It’s dinner time, I should be home. But I’m still in the office, at the heart of busy Ortigas. By this time, the inner voices of my stomach call out for food. I then quickly dial the nearest available fast food chain for a quick delivery.
Operator 1: Thank you for calling KFC, may I help you?
hungry_worker: Yes, how much is your minimum?
Operator 1: PHP200 ma’am
hungry_worker: Okay, I’d like to order.
Operator 1: May I have your number?
hungry_worker: *gives number*
Operator 1: So this is [kyameel] from [so and so address]. I’m afraid the nearest branch cannot take your order, since their delivery cut-off is at 8.30pm
hungry worker:Operator 1: thank you, Hope I can *cuts off*
Okay. That was just bad, the said branch was just 2 blocks away, and it was 30 minutes before cut-off. But by the sound of the guy on the other end of the line, I can’t persuade him to take my order.
So I move on to the next possible delivery service that as far as I know had a cut-off of 9pm. I try again.
Operator 2: Thank you for calling Jollibee, may I help you?
hungry_worker: Yes, I’d like to order please
Operator 2: Sorry ma’am, 8.15pm is our cut-ff ofr taking orders
hungry_worker: *wide-eyed* what? But your cut-off before was 9pm!
Operator 2: Yes ma’am, but there has been some changes.
hungry_worker: *stops self from cussing* Thank you
Operator 2: Than– *cuts off*
Okay. I was pissed. I was hungry. I wanna eat. I tried again, but I called McDonald’s and got the same reply, I can’t afford to be nice anymore. When I heard the word sorry, I just slammed down the receiver.
Since when were delivery times changed? 8pm is still early by everyone’s standards. And as far as I know many people are still in the office at this hour and will need deliveries.
A friend of mine said, it might be because of the terrorist scare. Deliveries are being done an hour earlier, so that it won’t be so late. They’re probably just concerned of their employees’ safety. Well, I be damned. What about our safety? Aren’t we risking our own tails staying in our offices late at night, alone?!
Tomorrow’s Morning Paper
Young woman single-handedly destroys the Abu Sayyaf. When questioned on what drove her to this she casually mentioned, “They goddamn moved the cutoff to McD’s deliveries an hour earlier!”
Do not mess with a hungry office worker!
And do take note, delivery requests cut-offs have been moved to 8pm. Order early!!!
