Sala sa init, Sala sa lamig (For hot, for cold)

The temperature reached a high of 35 around noon today and the sweltering heat is testing Manileno’s collective patience and perseverance. Resisting the urge of “indulgence” in travelling – high gas prices, turning on the aircon – high electricity rates, and filling up the pool – high water rates, Filipinos have always found ways to make summer a more enjoyable experience.

From the simple joys of the Halo-halo to the quaint pleasure of a Mango tree shade, Filipinos have found a penchant for surviving things that the elements of nature has thrown at them.

We make it through the toughest storms and the hottest summers and this summer is not any different from the one before. We’re facing an early el nino, a water shortage, a fiscal crisis but somehow we will never fail to find ways to enjoy life.

So now, if you need me, My hammock and I are off to find a Mango tree. :)

The summer heat gets worse every year. =/ Today I almost fainted while commuting. Ugh.

Lucky you, with the hammock! :)
