Thanks for posting the message from Emma. It’s genuine, from herself. I’m Lisa, a Japanese based in Manila and got to know Emma through this incident. We’ve been in touch and she asked me to translate that message from Japanese. I’ve also got mails from BAYO saying that they take this matter seriously and hope to communicate with Emma through Japan Embassy. Let’s see.

Thanks AMANDA, i hope that our talented designers and merchandisers do design and concept of their own. In Garment business there are two things a merchandiser (w/ the designer) must look into : the business side and the product side, we must create a concept and the design that WILL sell.

SELL? or the one that will be patronized by our local customer… and what is that concept or design? That is the one “NA MAY DATING AT ITSURANG IMPORTED”, remember in our high school and college history subject???? when we heard filipino history ang laging kasunod nun ay yung “COLONIAL MENTALITY”. Merchandisers and designers work together to create yung mala imported na produkto. We produce a concept and product that will sell, and not the one na may originality nga pero di naman bebenta, yan ang meaning ko ng “PRACTICAL”… GERMS

i think its unfair to falsely accuse bayo of copying in this site where they cannot answer each and every one.
That’s the root of the problem — Bayo has, afaik, refused correspondence with Emma. That in itself is suspicious, don’t you think?

by the way, is bambi copied from disney?
Bambi is by Disney, but I think it was Emma’s design (looks like Bambi, but different) that Bayo lifted.

J Valmadrid makes a good point about the employees of Bayo being Filipino and our need to support our industry. But this doesn’t mean that we have to condone blatant copying of designs. It not only insults the designer, it implies that we have no talent and have to resort to lifting designs.

I suggest that if there is indeed a violation of copyright, proper cases shall be filed against them so that we would know if indeed there was such violation. by the way, is bambi copied from disney?

^ practical eh? still inde parin pede na meron na news of piracy ay inde parin tinatangal ng bayo yung product line na yun. although wala na sa website nila, tumingin ako kahapon sa bayo at andun pren yung “bambi” line nay yun. sa bayokids naman, andun pren yung wide eye kids.

if bayo really didn’t mean to steal the design, dapat tinangal na nila yung mga stolen designs. im sure nakarating na sa kanila yung news na yun. my friend from another clothing company knows about it (industry nila eh, so dapat talaga alam nila). so most likely, bayo knows about it to.

too bad they are not doing anything about it.

Boycoting BAYO is not the answere, remember that 100% of thier employees are Filipino. Let’s face the fact that MOST of our local clothing brand (” “)copied a concept and designed up to the very small detailing and finishing. To all local merchandisers and designers pls correct me if im wrong. Lets be practical….
