Cheesecake etc.,Jack’s Loft, Gayuma, Chocolate Kiss and a lot of other restaurants offer up some of the best plates of cheesecake within the Metro. This one (pictured above) from Italianni’s has the most delectable syrups I have ever tried.

Harry Potter in Manila

Harry Potter openning day in Manila last Saturday. There was tons of giveaways from bags of chips, ice cream, donuts, bookmarks, magazines, notebooks and activities like face painting and hat making. If you’re interested, most bookstores are still offering the penultimate book in the series at 10% off.

Gaiman in Manila

Just in case you didn’t know, Neil Gaiman (author of American Gods, Neverwhere, Coraline and Sandman) will be in Manila from July 9 to 11, 2005.

The booksignings will be: The Gathering at the Rockwell Tent on July 9, in Fully Booked The Promenade in Greenhills on July 10, and at Gateway Mall in Cubao on July 11. There will be readings, book signing, an art competition, and a raffle where you can have the chance to have dinner with Neil Gaiman himself. The signing sessions are open to everyone.

For more info you can check out the site or join the mailing list.

(To tell you the truth I wasn’t going to post this because I didn’t want even more people going to this event -I’m greedy, yes- but I felt guilty, so I did. Tch.)

Going Big Time

I went to Mc Donald’s Glorietta and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. Gone were the tables and swivel chairs bolted to the floor. Patrons are now treated to new tables, and chair with actual leather upholstery!

And by golly, they have hanging lamps! No more harsh flourescent lighting, no more icky paintings on the wall either.

Now if only all Mc Donald’s looks this good…

Something positive

But first…

What a sight on a sunday morning. The photo shows a blown up Nissan Patrol in front of a local mall by north EDSA. The inset shows shards of the vehicle’s glass panes lying lazily a few meters from the Nissan.

I’m not even going to speculate about the political implications of this incident. But I have my suspicions.

On last night’s episode of GMA7’s Imbestigador, the show’s team dispersed 80 wallets across Metro Manila and watched what would follow. Each had Php200 in them. It was a test of honesty. Nice.

They said the results would be shocking. But holy hell, I didn’t expect it to be this schocking. Out of the 80 wallets, 15 of them went to the lucky bastards’ pockets. A whopping 65 were returned to the owner. If the sample were qualified enough, it would be safe to say that roughly 81% of wallets lying on the streets of our lovely city would be returned to their owners.

As much as I would like to rant over how much has been stolen from me, I think I’d like to stop here and end the entry on a positive note. Honesty still does exist.

It was a Saturday. I was in the car with my mother and sister and the truck carrying my entire room right behind us. We were on our way to the new condo where I would be living during the weekdays while in college. We were driving along EDSA just before Robinson

None of this ousting business.

Now I’m not much of a political blogger, but I just want to sound this out.

So I was in campus today and they had these sheets posted on boards, asking for opinions on the GMA and Garci fiasco. I stood there, reading the statements scrawled across the sheets. There were a few that made sense, but the ones that really stood out were the ones written in bold, scrawling letters, saying,

But really. Step back and think hard about this. If the people revolt, pull another EDSA Revolution (the nth one, how many have we had again?) and successfully force GMA to step down or be impeached, who will replace her?

Noli de Castro.

Please, please, please, not that idiot.

We need new News

If everything gets worse, we’re gonna need to find a topic outside Metro Manila. It seems that all that we have so far are news on the scandal permeating from Malaca
