No longer as nuts about Go Nuts Donuts
The hip crowd, or at least those who want to pass themselves off as part of the hip crowd, have this tendency to patronize the latest food/coffee/whatever chain to hit Manila in the hope of announcing to the world that yes, they are so “in.” I remember a time when people dressed up to eat at Kenny Rogers Roasters when it first opened it’s first branch here. Things started looking ridiculous when Bread Talk opened and Glorietta socialites made lining up to buy bread seem like a social event.
Then of course, there’s the story of Go Nuts Donuts.
When it first opened, people literally went nuts over Go Nuts. And I can’t blame them. Those are really good donuts they have there. I’m a fan myself.

I’ve never understood why people liked Go Nuts so much. I mean, the dough itself is too dry for me – it’s just slightly behind a Mister Donut in terms of the consistency. The frosting or icing too is usually too sweet for me, I much prefer a Dunkin Donut Sugar Raised or a Country Style Honey Dip.
I mean it’s a Donut people! …now if only Krispy Kreme would build a branch here.
well, they have more branches now.. the one in SM Makati still get a pretty long queue, specially during rush hour

Nina: Maybe it’s the turn of the SM crowd now. Coz I don’t think they were part of the see-and-be-seen people of the early Go Nuts phase.
Same here Peter. I only ate 3 pieces of their donuts, courtesy fo my friend. And I still don’t get it.
I still like Dunkin.
Eating Go Nuts Donuts is like eating sugar cubes. Those things are disgusting. I tried them once, and never understood why these trend-starved morons would waste their time lining up for deep-fried sugar when they could be spending the same amount of time doing cardio to get rid of their already protruding bellies.
However…. I have to say the best by far is Hot Loops’ Choco Nutty Rush. That’s an addiction!!!!!
Dunkin Donuts is better. I never liked Go Nuts Donuts. And there are also other alternatives: Hot Loops and Cello’s.
