And I’m actually willing to part with it.
In that long stretch of Pablo Ocampo (formerly Vito Cruz) in the Manila area, blocks before you reach Taft Avenue (if you’re coming from Makati), stands a big white house that looked like it’s been there forever. If you happen to pass by it a week or two before Christmas, you’d see a long line of people waiting to get inside as early as 8 o’clock in the morning.
No, it’s not a museum; it’s a cake shop. The best cake shop in Manila. In my opinion (and the people who line up there every year) anyway.
Let me introduce you to Becky’s Kitchen. I’ve only tried two of their cakes, and I’m still kicking myself for not gorging on them while I was still living less than 4 kilometers away from them.
Aside from the usual favorites, they also sell cakes you won’t find in other bake shops. Like the Potato Cake. Don’t ask me how that taste like.
They also have brownies, ensaymadas and fruitcakes.
And chocolate mousse. You HAVE to try their chocolate mousse. *drools*
Unfortunately, there are only two branches of Becky’s Kitchen in Manila: In Pablo Ocampo and Valle Verde. But believe me, they’re worth the trip.
