What can you buy with Php700?
Depending on where you go, you can end up with a pair of pants or two t-shirts OR 5 winter coats for kids, 7 DVDs and 6 dangly earrings.
I was finally awake for a trip to Quiapo with a friend of mine, and I was just looking forward for some serious DVD shopping. Sleepily, I trudged after him as he pointed out the various stores he went to when he went exploring a couple of days ago.
I perked up when we chanced upon this accessories store who let us buy the dangly earrings for only Php15. Yes, 15 pesos my dears. The catch is we had to buy 6 pairs to get the sales lady to lower the price.
Then came the sweaters. There was this big ukay-ukay (thrift store) at the 2nd floor of a building across Robinson’s Supermarket along Rizal Avenue. They have lots of *ahem* pre-owned clothes, shoes, bags and winter clothes. I really wasn’t interested in buying anything until I came across a rack that has an “All for Php50″ sign on top of it. Harrrr.
Our main DVD haunt before was this building near the mosque. It’s a duplex, with one side of the building for DVDs, the other for VCDs. It was everybody’s main haunt, and it’s always so crowded. A couple of buildings away from the ukay-ukay building, there’s another (this is getting redundant) building, whose 2nd floor has a mini-department store filled with export overruns and a couple of DVD sellers. It was Saturday night and it was almost empty. An anti-social shopaholic’s paradise!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a movie to watch.
