A little lovin’ in Metro Manila

Tomorrow is Feb 14…

Some of you who might think that Valentine’s Day is nothing more than a commercial event might not bother to do something with your Significant Other. Well, that or you do something not so commercial… But as one of my friends has SMSed me, it is one of the days in the year that you have an excuse to be mushy. Well, whatever – in case you plan to do something about it tomorrow, you better hurry!

Salad at 7-11?! Yup!

I was surprised when my friend Carl told me that they sell salad at 7-11. I haven’t seen any branches that did until the other night. I asked and found out that a pack of salad is Php 50. Well, at least there’s garden salad within reach when I want sort of fresh veggies in the middle of the day.

* I saw that in the 7-11 branch along Valero, the one near Chatham House.

Open 24 Hours

Fastfood branches here in Makati have been open 24 hours. Take for example the KFC branch along Leviste (near Valero, Rufino) and some Jollibee branches along Ayala.

I guess that there are more and more people who work over time or there are just so many call centers here in the Makati CBD that there has to be places wherein people could go eat, aside from the usual Ministop or 7-11 meals. I recall my friend who called me up at home one time and told me that he usually has dinner at 9am these days but he did tell me of people who would have shifts that end maybe in the middle of the night.

There have been nights that I stayed really late in the office and I am sure glad that KFC was open then. It would have been so bad for my stomach if I still waited to get home before eating dinner.

Commuting blues: Flat tire

This is the commuters’ dilemma : the dependence on whatever public transport has to offer.

And this morning, on my way to work, the shuttle I was riding had a flat tire. I was late for work because of that. It took a while before another shuttle from the same terminal passed by to rescue from distress. The dilemma was terrible because we were in one of those inner roads from North Caloocan to Quezon City.

Oh well, thank God for mobile phones though=) If not for mobile phones we would have been stuck there for a longer period.

Kris Aquino Ads Again

Apparently, ABC 5 loves endorsing Kris Aquino and her product endorsements! I’m currently watching the PBA finals between Purefoods (Go Purefoods!) and Red Bull and every single commercial break seems like a Kris Aquino moment.

Fare Discount

Jeepneys to cut fares by P.50 starting Feb. 10 .

SOME 40,000 jeepneys in Metro Manila will cut fares by 50 centavos from Feb. 10 to 17 to offer the public some form of relief amid increasing commodity prices, according to transport groups and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The question is, will ALL the drivers of the participating groups actually follow this?

Details on the discount, here: Inq7.net

Mars

If you were one of those people who used to rush home on weekdays to catch the Chinovela Meteor Garden, this might interest you: QTV 11 is now airing the series Mars, starring Vic Zhou and Barbie Xu. It’s on during weekdays from 7:30 to 8 in the evening. The pilot episode was just shown tonight (Monday), so it’s not yet too late for you to get into the story.

Just a bit of warning though: this one’s darker than Meteor Garden. For example, the Barbie Xu character is being sexually harassed by a professor.

But on the upside, Vic, who was on the skinny side in MG, seems to have buffed up! He’s looking pretty hot in the series, if I do say so myself.

PBB Celebrity Edition

Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition, which was postponed last night due to the ULTRA incident, will have its premiere tonight at 9 pm. According to Star, here is the list* of the newest housemates:

*I’m just not sure how accurate this list is. :P Apparently, it is. :D (Thanks Yen!)

There are bodies everywhere…

Image106.jpg

The news report is shocking. There are bodies lying everywhere and people just gawking. Why aren’t they bringing it to the hospitals or morgues? There are enough ambulances just standing by to move the bodies.

More people are even coming to the area including the relatives of those who may have died. Apparently the game show “Wowowee” is celebrating its anniversary.

Television network ABS-CBN is asking people not to come to the area but instead call 4152272 at local 5911 or 5323 to inquire about family members.
