A new way to protest

Rallying in the streets is soooo last week. What’s in now is expressing your anti-Gloria sentiments in Starbucks.

Again, from the Philippine Star:

Anti-Arroyo forces are asking members of the middle and upper classes to wear black and troop to a series of pricey coffee shops to make a political statement.

Defiant coffee lovers are being asked to queue up at the counter individually for their drinks. Usually, one person in a group or barkada orders drinks from the rest.

After getting their products, students, business executives and professionals are asked to sit or just stand around for at least 30 minutes.

When the cue is given, the caffeine-loving protesters will leave en masse, at which point everyone is asked to give a simultaneous “thumbs down” sign before peacefully dispersing and proceeding to the next gimmick place.

I think this is scheduled for tonight, so if you want to have your coffee in peace, you’re better off drinking at home.

On another note, the peso is now up at Php51.22 against the dollar, the highest it’s been in more then three years.

State of Emergency lifted

The president has cleared the State of National Emergency this morning saying that destabilization attempts have stopped. She also reported that security officials have given their assurance for the safety of the public. Charges are pending in the AFP for armed forces personnel who are allegedly part of the coup plot.

Oh my aching head

Owing to the recent events in Manila, I have once again started reading the newspaper past the comic pages. Today, I remembered why I stopped reading in the first place.

Yet another Jollibee branch (on Tordesillas St)

I am actually happy to see that they are constructing a branch of Jollibee along Tordesillas St. My officemates sometimes crave for Jollibee and we have to walk so far to get food from there. This time it will be closer. I wonder when the construction will be finished and if it will be serving 24 hours :)

Bawal Umihi Dito!

I really feel the urgency and the necessity to post this wacky bit of fact from Pinoy Big Brother:

Big Brother to Keanna: BAWAL UMIHI SA GARDEN

keanna.jpg …Big Brother informed Keanna that peeing in the garden is strictly prohibited. “Bawal bastuhin ang kabahayan ko. Sa susunod na umihi ka sa garden, bibigyan na kita ng kaukulang parusa. pagkatandaan mo yun,” Kuya stressed to Keanna.

The Kilabot ng Senado, immediately apologized for her mistake. “Sorry lang po ako sa inyo nakakahiya. Parang naisip ko kasi noong time na yun kaming dalawa lang at nasa bakuran ko lang kami nag-uusap. Normal lang kasi akin na kapag ihing-ihi na talaga ako, pArang umiihi na lang ako diyan sa ano (tabi tabi). Natawa ako sa ginawa ako.”

Big Brother also reminded Keanna that nothing escapes his vigilant eyes; he sees everything that happens inside the house. “Alalahanin mo Keanna na lahat ng bahagi ng aking bahay ay nakikita. lahat ng nangyayari sa bahay nakikita ko.” “Ay nakikita po ba?” Keanna quickly replied.

Gawd.

Did you get that feeling?

There was a minor earthquake that lasted for what seemed like over a minute around 7:12pm tonight.

Did you feel it too?

I’m still at the office, and I felt the table shook, and my swivel chair almost swaying…

*whew*
