Christmas in April

A downside of having the Metro Manila Film Fest in December: we end up seeing non-Filipino movies set during Christmas when it’s already summer. The movie “Rent,” for example. And I’m pretty sure I saw “Love Actually” around this time two years ago, as well. On the big screen there’s snow, Santa costumes, and Christmas carols on the soundtrack. Outside it’s 32 degrees Celsius and inflatable pool toys are on display at SM. Good grief.

… to think that local director jose javier reyes is an advocate of having foreign movies pirated. in fact, he has appeared on tv shows saying that local movies don’t deserve to suffer under the claws of piracy, only foreign movies. twisted, really… i’ve seen his recent movie. kutob (to my utter disappointment) and he clearly has pirated the story from “Psycho”. the modifications are so lame.

I also saw Rent last week. Finally! Wala lang, I’ve already read reviews of how lousy the film version is but still, opening credits pa lang naiyak na ko. Hahaha. I love Rent! *sigh*
