Rediscovering Star City

I have to admit that after Enchanted Kingdom, the thought of going to Star City doesn’t excite me anymore. True, Star City is easier to go to and cheaper too, but it doesn’t have the same appeal.

Surf Dancer at StarCityThis afternoon, I went there with my family, and it wasn’t so bad. They have put a number of rides indoor, so you won’t have to sweat buckets while waiting in queue for your ride. There’s plenty of rest rooms that are pretty clean and more than enough trash bins so there’s hardly any litter on the floor.

They also have this new ride called Surf Dancer. I was too chicken to try it out, but it looks VERY interesting. You can see it in action here.

Summer in Manila – Relax with a Spa Treatment

One of the ways to give your body a break this summer is through a Spa treatment. There are a lot of Spas in the metro and you may have tried a couple of them so here’s a short listing of some of the ones we’ve tried. If you have your own favorites or want to share your experience, post ‘em up.

Suriya Spa (Gold’s Gym Glorietta)
We tried the Hot Stone Massage which is an exotic treatment where heated rocks are placed on pressure points (like along your spine). The treatment was very relaxing and soothing and took about an hour. Price was not bad for P1,350.00 (tax not included) and service was excellent.

This probably doesn’t look as tasty as the one on the print ads but it tasted ok. The rice ‘bun’ was an interesting concept. I still used a spoon because of the soup ;) This meal cost me around Php 90. I don’t really mind. Considering it is a meal at Mc Donald’s but I think I could have gone for a Chicken Mc Nuggets meal instead of this one.

In any case, I don’t regret eating this. I was just curious anyway and my curiosity was satisfied. If you checked out the chicken one, let me know how it tasted ok? This beef one had teriyaki sauce.

Christianity making Philippines poor?

According to the United Nations Population Fund, the Philippines will remain poor unless we address our population growth. Following this argument, the church’s stronghold in influencing the state is stopping reproductive health issues to be addressed by the government. The church is against condoms, pills and a multitude of family planning methods (except for the “natural” process) and most moves to curb population have been harshly criticized by the church. So, with these arguments, is it alright to surmise that Christianity is keeping the Philippines poor?
