Conversations at the dinner table

I don’t know if they’re serious about this or if this is really being implemented. It’s funny and disturbing at the same time.

Niece: I was talking to my friend from my old school and she said there’s a new requirement for incoming freshmen boys.
Me: What?
Niece: She said they have to be circumsized already before they can enter the school.
Me: …
Niece: She’s serious! She even said they check it before they allow admission.

Ahahahahahaha.

When I grow up, I want to be just like Manny

I like taking pictures, and I like looking at other people’s pictures. One of the most memorable photos I stumbled upon online are those of Manny Librodo’s. It’s really amazing to see such stunning portraits of people. If a photograph really takes away a person’s soul, Manny’s camera has taken them all.

This July, his photos will be exhibited for a whole month at the One Workshop Gallery. The “Portraits of Asia” exhibit will kick off with a cocktail party on July 1 at 6 o’clock in the evening. On July 8, a portrait session and workshop will be conducted by Manny at the venue from 9am – 3pm.

All-Meat!

“Bagong Sarap, Bagong Kaibigan” (New Taste? New Friend)

New Swift Sam Hotdog!

O_o

Has anyone seen this at the groceries recently? I took this pic with a camphone at our office canteen. And I had to *discreetly* take a shot of it. I immediately took off and I couldn’t stop laughing at the hallway.

All-Meat Hotdogs?!

1 more photo after the jump!

Manila High

I have been listening to the songs by the band Kala. I first saw the video of their song Jeepney on Channel 23 and I got hooked to the song. Right now, I am listening to the tracks on their album Manila High and I can’t help but enjoy the songs. They are upbeat and funky. One of the tracks I really like is Parapap. Another is the mix of their carrier single Jeepney. As my SO puts it, Kala reminds him of POT but with with a smoother vibe and I agree with him on that.

Three Impeachments filed against Arroyo

If anyone’s counting, today’s Impeachment case filed against Arroyo is the third suit against the President. The first case was filed by lawyer Oliver Lozano where he simply submitted the same Impeachment suit he filed last year. The second case was submitted by former Vice President Teofisto Guingona while the most recent case was filed by Caloocan bishop Deogracias YƱiguez.

I can see my roof!

Mi Casa
I’ve only recently downloaded Google Earth when I heard that they now have photos of the Philippines. For a map addict, this certainly is great news.

The first thing I looked for, was of course, my house. It was actually disconcerting, because it’s easy to get lost of you’re looking at Metro Manila (or any other city, I suppose) from above. It’s easy though, once you recognize familiar landmarks and roads.

My route marker was Quezon Memorial Circle. Elliptical road really IS elliptical. Before I tracked the road to my house, however, I got distracted by these interestingly-shaped buildings in the Quezon Avenue/Agham Road/East Avenue area. Can you identify these buildings?

After locating my house, I made my way back to EDSA and followed the highway to Makati. When I was still living in JP Rizal and Kamagong, I always pass by the South Cemetery. Not once in my 3 years of living in Makati did I ever venture to go inside. It’s really fascinating to see it from a bird’s eye view though.

Speaking of fascinating, how’s this for contrast?

Globe and Smart in Pricing War

As the war of the ATM networks die down, the war of the Mobile networks rages on with the Globe and Smart pricing dispute. Globe has officially filed a case against Smart claiming that Smart and Piltel’s “All Day Texting 258 Call+Text Promo” is “predatory and discriminatory pricing.”

Smart has responded that Globe’s statements were “reckless, indiscriminate and absurd.”

Globe further claims that Smart and Piltel’s licenses should be revoked since Piltel is just riding on Smart’s network. “It would appear that Talk and Text is actually a Smart brand and not that of Piltel… the Piltel authorizations and frequencies should be revoked and recalled… for non-operation or nonuse” claims Globe senior vice president Rodolfo Salalima in an interview with Manila Standard.

On a note, the benefit of the network wars trickle down to consumers as the price of network services (texting, overseas calls) keeps going down and down.
