I was looking for information on whether number coding was suspended in the Metro today when I came accross this article from abs-cbn:
MMDA suspends number-coding scheme
However when you read later into the article:
Robert Nacianceno, MMDA general manager, said the color coding scheme is not suspended.
Odd really.

Do you ever play tourist in your own city? This afternoon, I did.
My friend Vic invited me to join Old Manila Walk’s Big Binondo Food Wok. I’ve been meaning to join one of these walking tours, but have never gotten around to it. Now I’m chastising myself for not going earlier.
Conducted by Ivan ManDy, the tour was a fun way of learning about Chinatown’s history and discovering the joys of authentic Chinese delicacies. So if you’re looking for something new to try over the weekend, join one of his tours.

Check out James Yap’s profile at Wikipedia now! I’m not making this up. I was wikipedia-hopping when I came across this uhh interesting (yet slightly disturbing) page about this year’s PBA MVP:

Since when did James Yap traded his face for Allen Iverson’s? I hope someone’s working on that Wikipedia entry right this very minute!

You’ll have to excuse me, but it’s my first tropical rainy season here in Manila, and the last 2 weeks of constant dreary wetness have taken their toll. I didn’t even bother to look out the windows this morning, so when I walked outside and looked up, i couldn’t believe it!
Sunshine!
White Clouds!
Blue Skies!
Here’s to a fabulous day (although still hot as hell!)

While walking through the small park outside the Manila City Hall, my friend and I came upon these two dogs asking for “donations.”
Noticing our interest (and my camera), their owner came up and to the dogs to show us their counting trick.
It’s cute and all, but how comfortable are the dogs doing this? And how long do they have to stand in that chair until they can rest? And just how cute is that hat?

There’s a fire at the Public Market in Lower Bicutan, Taguig. Reports say it started around 5am and most of the establishments near the market like Chowking and Jollibee are moving their LPG tanks in case they explode. There were no firefighters around when I passed by this morning around 6am.
The market is less than 100 meters away from a school, a church and a PNP camp.

What’s next after Toys ‘R Us? Krispy Kreme! According to this sweet news, the company will open its franchise here in Manila by the end of the year. Say hello to fresh (finally!) overrated doughnuts!

Apparently despite the high poverty index, corruption and everything else you can find wrong in Third World countries, the Philippines is the 17th happiest country in the world .
Are you generally happy living in the Metro? How about the Philippines in general?
