Happily living in Manila

Apparently despite the high poverty index, corruption and everything else you can find wrong in Third World countries, the Philippines is the 17th happiest country in the world .

Are you generally happy living in the Metro? How about the Philippines in general?

That the Philippines is ranked 17th happiest state worldwide strongly bespeaks of the Filipinos’ resilience against hardship and all the screw-ups happening around them. Or at least that is what it says to me. I love the Philippines and I am proud to be a Filipino.

The only thing is that this index measurement is based on land size. So small countries and islands get hire index scores. I don’t believe it, as much as i want to.

This was based on the Happy Planet index, which calculates not just people’s happiness level, but also how good our lives are according to how the environment and our natural resources are used to provide the supposed happy life. Personally, I sneeze at this ranking.
