Best Ice Cream Parlors in Manila

When one is in a tropical country, one must find ways to keep cool. And in a country where Halo-halo stands signify the start of Summer, we found it was our mission to scour Manila for the best ice cream shops.

Boracay Split

Iceberg (Timog)
Iceberg is one of the oldest (and for me, the best) Ice cream parlors in Manila. With splits, shakes, halo-halo’s and a whole concoction of other treats, you’ll never tire of the place. Treat yourself to a Boracay split (shown above) or grab the barkada and have a King Kong sundae which is good enough for about 5 people.

Floyd’s (Libis)
One of the best ice creams around here is FIC (Fruit in Ice Cream) and it’s used by everyone from Jack’s Loft to Ice Monster and of course, Floyd’s. Floyd has this rather unique Ice cream treat called Cold Rock where they fold in your choice of sweets and toppings into your ice cream. The granite where your ice cream is folded is actually kept cold and this keeps the treat from melting.

Cold Rock (SM Mall of Asia)
This one is not actually a native Manileno but an Aussie. Try the Choc Mint or Rum & Raisin for something interesting.

Peter (and all you folks out there), you ought to try the ice cream this man Ian Carandang makes! No less than THE Lori Baltazar blogged about him and gave his ice cream glowing reviews; check said entry out here:

Had a scoop of his Chocoholics Anonymous the other night and found it so scrumptious I just had to buy a pint and take it home to my family.

Anyone else out there given his stuff a try?

    Chris

I remember, during my high school days, going over to Iceberg’s Banawe for a group date (at that time we called it “E.B.”). I earned major pogi points after having broken the glass saucer where my banana split had been.

The waiter charged me an additional 50 pesos. The nerve to pull that on a stone-broke high school student!

*Drooling* Mama mia! that is so yum-yum-yum! Every now and then, I’ve been craving for something sweet. So, when everytime I wanted to eat something refreshing, I just walk and voila! Iceberg Timog. It’s just a few blocks away from home, so it’s very accessible.

I’ll take a freshly-made South Seas mango shake in Dumaguete over that ice cream concoction any day ;)

Of course, that photo above is doing a pretty good job of making me hungry :)
