Diwa, the leading publisher of textbooks and academic supplementary magazines in the Philippines, will be staging the biggest Tribute to Teachers ever, its yearly homage to the hard-working and resilient Filipino teaching force. This year’s gathering of educators from all over the country will be held at the Araneta Coliseum on 09 September 2006 from1:30 to 5 in the afternoon. The event will be a convergence of the greatest and brightest in the Philippine education sector.
Sharing their time and providing inspiration are Dennis Waitley, founding director of US National Council on Self-Esteem; Sen. Mar Roxas; Sec. Jesli Lapuz of the Department of Education; Butch Jimenez, senior vice president of PLDT; Francis Kong, president of Business Matters Values Foundation; Sandy Prieto-Valdez, president of the Philippine Daily Inquirer; and Roselle Ambubuyog, the country’s first visually impaired summa cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University. There will also be performances by surprise guest stars.
It is not very often that teachers are given this kind of attention. With all their sacrifices, they deserve all the glory.
