Pretty hospital

In 2003, I’ve been to Cardinal Santos a number of times: when my other sister gave birth and afterwards when she brings her daughter for her regular check up.

Last year, I went with my other sister for her check up, and we were both taken aback with the new lobby. Not that there was anything mortifying in the lobby. It was the opposite: the lobby was renovated and looked like a hotel lobby, not that of a hospital.

This morning, we went to the Medical City in Ortigas and once again, I was floored at how beautiful the entire complex was.

I suppose, if your hospital looks this beautiful, you wouldn’t feel so scared about “checking in.”

I’ve noticed that many hospitals are being renovated. Perhaps, they are going away from the traditional hospital look and opting for a more friendly and homey environment. I think this kind of atmosphere helps relieve some of the tension associated with hospitals.

Oh, I’ve never been to Cardinal Santos but I’ve always admired Asian Hospital in Alabang and Medical City in Ortigas. They made their hospitals rather homey.

Yeah, even Perpetual Help Medical Center in Las PiƱas (the most advanced hospital in the south before Asian Hospital opened) also renovated their lobby several years ago to look like a hotel.

Yeah, I wouldn’t have let myself be admitted if Medical City wasn’t so pretty.

That’s great that hospitals are making themselves more accessible and warm to patients and visitors. I heard that Asian Hospital is like a hotel!
