Scariest Manilenos: MMDA Traffic Enforcers

9. MMDA Traffic Enforcers
Last Known Location: EDSA, C5 and other major metro thoroughfares

No. 9 - MMDA Traffic Enforcers Nobody wants to be stopped by MMDA Traffic Enforcers: public or private vehicles will try to weasel their way out of that ticket almost 100% of the time. Bribery and corruption sadly is a fact of life here in the Metro as much as rules are but mere suggestions.

Case in point, Swerving, the vague and non existent violation (this is not a real traffic violation, check out the MMDA website’s list of violations and compare it to the LTO website’s list of violations) that is often used to milk motorists who simply changed lanes.

The current state of corruption in our streets is a scary situation. How do we stop these cases especially now that Christmas is approaching, road users must be more wary of notorious traffic enforcers. What does one do if following the rules to a T doesn’t even guarantee a ticket free ride?

I totally agree! Those supposed traffic enforcers stationed at EDSA cor Macapagal Blvd are especially loathesome. They stop a lot of motorists who are merely changing lanes in the guise of stopping them from “illegal swerving,” when it is in fact MMDA’s fault that those vehicles would have to changes lanes in the first place. They do not have sufficient warnings that certain lanes would have to turn left, so if you’ve not been there before, you’d only find that out when you’ve been trapped!
