Kid Guards Shopping Bags
During the height of Christmas shopping last December, we spotted this little kid sitting all alone at a restaurant in SM Makati. We were seated next to him and couldn’t help noticing how restless he was as he guarded the many shopping bags around him. We saw two grown-ups leave him there for more than half an hour! My companion and I couldn’t help but think of the child’s safety. We took up the role of guardian angels and didn’t leave our table until the grown-ups came back for him.
I can’t help but shake my head at this. It was a very busy time of the year, yes, and our shopping bags can get quite heavy. That is however no reason to dump them on a restaurant table (preventing potential customers from occupying it!) and worse, have a child guard them! I can’t even begin to imagine the many bad things that can happen with this scenario. The mall is not a safe place you know, especially for unguarded children. Lose the bags, but not the kids!

I’ve come across this situation several times in the mall. I’m not exactly an adult-adult yet but I do tend to notice how stupid and unmindful parents get. Once I saw a mom practically her kid, not looking where the kids was heading, simply because she was too engrossed with something other than her own flesh and blood. Sometimes they haven’t realized they ought to straighten their priorities because they’re responsible for more than one person now.
I’m curious about what you told this kid’s parents! :D
