Whenever the Coffee Bean Swirl Card system is down, you won’t be able to pay for your hard earned drink. You still want that Chai Tea Latte? You won’t even get points for it.

So, if you are a really loyal Coffee Bean customer, who really doesn’t care if they hold your money indefinitely and don’t mind asking the question “Is the system up?” over and over again, then the Swirl card is just for you! Enjoy that latte!

I think that Coffee Bean should have a backup plan whenever the system is down, the reason one would prepay is for the convenience of not having to get cash before you can purchase anything. They should have a backup plan like a hotline where Baristas can call to confirm the amount on your card or to deduct points. Either way, it certainly will not help loyal customers if your loyalty system does not work.
