With possibly the largest bookstore in the metro just recently opened in Bonifacio High Street, the bookworm in me couldn’t help but check out the newest Fully Book branch opened in town. There’s 5 floors of books – including a basement filled with graphic novels and a 4th floor filled with CDs – all bound to keep book lovers coming back for more. The Starbucks on the third floor is also great for starting that new book purchase with a cup of coffee. Anyway, we’ll feature more of High Street in the coming weeks so stay tuned.

Someone supernatural was in town today. Hearing the cheers and chants of an adoring crowd, he said, “The energy here is off the charts. I absolutely love Manila!” (Photo by Nykko Santos.)

Well here’s something to be happy about, crime is down in the Metro by 2% according to this article from PDI, “crimes against persons and property in Metro Manila from April to July 2007 dipped by 2.71 percent as compared to the same period in 2006″ anyway, I’m not sure if this means that there’s less crimes or there’s less criminals caught?

My family and I were looking for a no-fuss eating place when we got to Serendra yesterday. We weren’t in the mood for formality — we just wanted to enjoy being together and be able to laugh heartily over a spread of good food. When we spotted The Polu Kai Grill, we knew it would be the perfect place for our family lunch.
It’s a Hawaiian-themed restaurant, so don’t be surprised when you’re greeted with Aloha’s and huge tiki figures here and there. Our sights set on an aquarium in the middle of the room which kids were gravitating to — there were little happy shouts of “Dory!” and “Nemo!” as they pointed at the fish. We were led to the center of the restaurant. I have to admit I was a bit surprised that it didn’t look as roomy as I expected it to be. But that wasn’t a problem. From the doorway, the tables look cramped. But when seated, there was enough leg room and enough space to push your chair out of the table without having to knock over a neighboring diner. Good layout!
The food was very interesting; I’ve never really had Hawaiian food. Upon hearing the waiter’s recommendations, we had the following:

U-turns that currently dot the metro’s amjor throughfares will soon have your cars flying – that is they’ll be turning into elevated u-turns. The first one will be placed in the heavily clogged C5-Kalayaan interchange (which causes a daily serving of Southbound traffic from Quezon City to Pasig and Makati). The MMDA is targeting the project to be completed April of next year.
I guess the only question left here is if the flyover will be pink?

Calling American Idol fans! One of the best male vocalists of AI is coming to Manila in late September. It’s Elliott Yamin! He finished at third place two seasons ago. Do you remember his rendition of “Moody’s Mood for Love”? It was soulful and brilliantly sung. Perhaps he’ll sing it when he’s here. Who knows? *crosses fingers*
You can catch Elliott’s shows here: TriNoma – September 21. Glorietta – September 22. Market! Market! – September 23. Ayala Center Cebu – September 26. Alabang Town Center – September 28.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait! :)
