Comforting Oody’s

I’ve long been searching for a really spicy but still flavorful Tom Yum here in Manila, one that tastes similar to the one I fell in love with in Bangkok. When I went to Oody’s Express in Market Market and saw they they had Tom Yum, I ordered it right away.

It was very spicy, just the way I liked it, but it didn’t lose out on the flavor the lemon grass, shrimp, tomatoes — how does “malinamnam” translate to English anyway? That’s how I’d describe that bowl of soup. Spicy hot but still “malinamnam.”

We also ordered catfish salad, kangkong, noodles with clear soup and Mu Yang (Pork BBQ rice meal). They were all very delicious. My soup and my husband’s Mu Yang was served with free Iced Coffee which we both savored. Yummy! See our meal in pictures below.

Free Iced Coffee! Perfect complement to that spicy hot tom yum goong.

Catfish Salad. Shreds of green mango with crispy crumbly catfish.

Mu Yang. The pork was sweet, and it was served with Thai Tamarind BBQ sauce. Quite filling.

Kangkong with a spicy sauce. I forgot what it’s officially called but anyway, it was really good too.

A comforting bowl of noodles with clear soup.

The service was also good. The waiters were attentive and courteous. Great service, great meals! We wanted to order dessert but ended up being too full after this great meal! All this amounted to P486.00. Not bad!

I’ll definitely be going back to Oody’s Express soon. :) When I need my comfort food of Tom Yum, I know I can rely on Oody’s.
