Comelec releases private information of Metro Manila residents

The Commission on Elections has posted the list of Registered Voters online together with voter’s private information. The registered voters list contains the birthdays, home addresses and other voter’s information.

For example, it was very easy to find out that MMDA Chairman Bayani F. Fernando (that’s Bayani Flores Fernando) lives at 10 Ipil St. Monte Vista, Ind. Valley in Marikina. Chairman Fernando was only a registered voter last June 14, 1997. His wife, Marikina Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando registered the day after.

Absentee voting starts

The election is more than 2 years away but Overseas Absentee Voting has already started this month.

The overseas absentee voter registration period will be from October 3, 2005 to August 31, 2006. Registration is open to citizens of the Philippines abroad who are at least 18 years of age on May 24, 2007 and are not otherwise disqualified by the law.
