Inquirer - Special Report on the Makati Standoff
1 commentMen at Work

Now you see them, now you don’t. When will they ever finish cleaning, repainting our EDSA? Or will it ever get done in the first place? They are usually seen at the busiest streets at the busiest time of the day. This is another cause for the rush hour traffic. And sometimes, going through Ayala Tunnel, there aren’t any warning signs that there’s work in progress. That’s dangerous for them and the motorists. I commend the efforts of making our city clean but I just hope there’s a better way of implementing this.
Father’s Day Tabaqueria
(Warning: this post contains information not relevant to those below 18 years old. But feel free to read on, If you like.)
What kind of savage son would get his father a lighter, an ashtray, and two boxes of hand-rolled cigars on Father’s Day? Well…the kind just like me, I guess.
“Are you trying to kill your dad?” mother asked when she saw what I was about to give him.
Of course not! Having trekked into the monstrously populated SM North EDSA / The Block on the eve of all fathers’ special day, I was easily tempted to be eclectic. No World’s Greatest Dad paper holder. No moleskin planner. No wallet. No Swiss knife. I wanted my gift to be a little out of the usual. And where do I get it? Kultura Filipino, of course.
The one-stop shop is a treasure trove of Philippine culture and crafts, all showcasing how unique being a Filipino is. There were two huge stands displaying the cigars. Naturally, already having bought a Coca Cola lighter from Lighter’s Galore, I was easily drawn, like to a magnet. I got two boxes and was given a free sample - which I smoked immediately after I got home. Thanks, Kultura Filipino!

Smirnoff makes Marikina river drinkable?
Well that would take a couple of bottle’s of Smirnoff to make me drink water from Marikina river but last month Smirnoff succesfully attempted to purify the Marikina River during the “Unlock the Purity Code” party in Eastwood.
The event showcased Smirnoff’s filtration process which they use for their vodka. British ambassador Peter Beckingham, actress Chin-Chin Gutierrez and other guests also sampled shots of the Marikina river water purified through the Smirnoff Purification Installation. So now how do we put these filtration process to clean the river completely?

1 commentMRT LRT!
I rode the MRT today and found out about the new “segregation” law where women, children and senior citizens are separated from men. It was comfortable in the first car (where the former group is placed) but when I stepped out of Ortigas station, I saw how horribly full the rest of the cars were. LOL. I wonder how long this rule will remain in action.
Speaking of railway transit laws, I posted an LJ entry with a mirror project photo taken at the Cubao station the other day and I got a number of responses regarding how that was illegal! LOL. I’ve been taking several shots inside and outside MRT/LRT stations but the guards have never stopped me from doing so. Hmmmmm…maybe because I look a little too harmless? Geez.

If you were one of those people who used to rush home on weekdays to catch the Chinovela Meteor Garden, this might interest you: QTV 11 is now airing the series Mars, starring Vic Zhou and Barbie Xu. It’s on during weekdays from 7:30 to 8 in the evening. The pilot episode was just shown tonight (Monday), so it’s not yet too late for you to get into the story.
Just a bit of warning though: this one’s darker than Meteor Garden. For example, the Barbie Xu character is being sexually harassed by a professor.
But on the upside, Vic, who was on the skinny side in MG, seems to have buffed up! He’s looking pretty hot in the series, if I do say so myself.
