If you are craving for ome rice (also known as omelette rice and omu rice), try Hang Kang’s ome rice. I suppose that Filipinos who like eating omelettes or torta would say that this is probably weird because there’s fried rice in the omelette itself. It’s a Korean dish and it’s really yummy. You could even have some noodles in it.
My sister says that it’s a tricky treat so that kids will end up eating vegetables though. Hehehe.

You don’t have money anymore and it’s still days before sweldo. What do you do with only a few pesos in your pocket? You scrimp. You scrimp on food. But scrimping doesn’t have to hurt. You just have to be creative. Depending on how you see it, bad times can be breeding ground for creative culinary adventures.

Just in case you still haven’t heard (you probably just came out of a thousand year slumber), Malacanang has declared October 24, 2006, a Tuesday, as a regular holiday throughout the country. Proclamation no 1155 says it aims “to promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr.”

i’m quite suprise and exhilirated that a coffee shop will be opening at the park infront of 6750 bldg. this is the park sanwiched by glorietta and shangri-la hotel makati. it is quite exciting to have coffee during one lazy sunday like NOW! hehehe. i just hope that this opens soon and i hope there would be less typhoons this year. it’s going to be quite a hassle to be at the park on a rainy day…at least we will have a place to call Cafe at the Park.
here’s their banner posted at their board-up:

i just wish that ayala commercial center will really make the park beautiful so that it’s all going to be worth it. UCC coffee is really expensive compared to Starbuck’s, Gloria Jean and Seattle’s Best. UCC is also opening another branch at the 5th level of Rustan’s Makati.

I was at work in Makati yesterday when Milenyo hit. I could hear the strong winds blowing outside our office windows. The power would fluctuate every half hour. It was scary. When I stepped out of the building, I was shocked to see the usually orderly streets of Makati turn into a huge mess of fallen trees and broken concrete. Click on the picture to enlarge. These were just the damage that I saw. All around the metro, there were broken electrical posts and fallen electrical lines. It was very dangerous to go out. Today I saw people clearing trees off the road, but traffic is still terrible. Milenyo entered our country with such intensity and left so quickly; but he left behind unbelievable damage. I hope all is well with you guys and that your loved ones are safe and sound.

MANILA Mayor Lito Atienza declared the city in a state of calamity and suspended classes on all levels on Friday.
Im sure its because of the typhoon Milenyo…. but i guess ….. affected billboards that says “Buhayin ang Maynila with the Mayors face” could be one of the reasons as well…..(LOL)

Saturday has got to be one of the most tiring days I’ve had in years! But seeing over ten thousand teachers converge at the Araneta Coliseum, the smiles on their faces and their words of gratitude were enough to compensate for a hard day’s work.

I was on my way home last week when I noticed people gathering at Glorietta near the exit to SM. Filipinos flock this way for several reasons but I have a good hunch about this one. You guessed it. There was a shoot for a TV show going on. Angel Aquino was there. I don’t want to disappoint the Filipino in me so I took this shot. Yeah it’s pretty bad but it’s the best I could do from where I was.

Smoke filled the Ayala mall yesterday afternoon when the Luk Yuen Restaurant in Glorietta 2 caught fire. I was there in time to notice the smoke filling the mall and yet the shoppers seemed to be as casual as casual can get. I took a (bad) photo of the hazy looking building but you wouldn’t even notice something’s going on unless you check out the closed stores at the background. (Sorry for being a bad citizen journalist. I was supposed to be heading for an interview!)

Manila never sounded this good. This tribute CD is one of the best purchases I made in the last months. With original APO songs souped up by today’s best Filipino musicians that include Parokya ni Edgar, Orange and Lemons, The Dawn, Kitchie Nadal, and Barbie Almalbis among others. The APO covers that stand out are the ticklish Doo Bi Doo by Kamikazee, Boldstar’s warm rendition of Kumot at Unan, the suave Paano by Shamrock, and the sweet girl pop Ewan by Imago.
One word to describe the CD? Masarap! Yes I’d eat it if I could.
